Physical TherapyPhysical Therapy is a healthcare profession which involves the treatment or management of pain, disability and impaired movement. It integrates a wide variety of advanced soft tissue and articular techniques including, myofascial release, neuromuscular therapy, joint mobilisation, deep tissue massage and stretching to effect the restoration of optimal pain free function.
It's primary focus is on a thorough screening and assessment to identify the underlying cause of a clients symptoms. A treatment plan is then formulated which is uniquely suited to the specific needs of the individual, and the aim of each treatment is to deal with the underlying or causative factors rather than just the pain alone.
It is a primary care health profession and is established on sound health science principles. Physical Therapists work to restore full normal movement and to reduce or eliminate pain resulting from injury, infirmity and from medical conditions.
It is important that the physical therapist you attend is a registered member of the Irish Association of Physical Therapists (I.A.P.T.), thus ensuring that they meet the educational and professional standards in practice and ethics set by the I.A.P.T. the professional body for physical therapists in Ireland. Look for the designated M.I.A.P.T.
